1.0 Release Date
Unfrozen has not announced a 1.0 release date for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era as of Oct 21, 2026. Its Steam Early Access text says it plans to stay in Early Access for about a year from Apr 30, 2026, so Vi.ki's best guess is about Apr 2027; no console version is announced.
Unfrozen has not announced a 1.0 release date for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era as of Oct 21, 2026. Its answers in Steam's Early Access section say "We plan to remain in Early Access for a year, but that could change depending on how the design develops with player feedback" (Steam, read Oct 21, 2026). Counted from the start of Early Access on Apr 30, 2026, that points to about Apr 2027, which is Vi.ki's best guess and the date on this viki's launch clock. It is a guess, not an announcement: Unfrozen has given no date, quarter or year for 1.0, and its roadmap says only that details will come "in the future".

What Unfrozen has said
Unfrozen's statements about the end of Early Access are few, and none gives a date:
- Steam's Early Access section (the developer's answers): "We plan to remain in Early Access for a year", and the full version will add scenarios, map templates, map editor improvements, "an additional Underground map layer" and "the full story of Olden Era across all acts of the narrative campaign" (Steam).
- The roadmap of May 28, 2026: Stage 4, "1.0, full release", is where "we aim to exit the Early Access and fully release Olden Era (more details about that in the future)" (Unfrozen).
- Ubisoft's copy of the roadmap gives no dates for any stage and warns that "Items in the roadmap may change" (Ubisoft News, May 28, 2026).
Press reports that put 1.0 in spring 2027, such as Pixelkin's "around April or May" of May 28, 2026, are the writers' own reading of the same one-year line, not Unfrozen's word.
Where 1.0 sits on the roadmap
The Early Access Roadmap has four stages. Two have quarters, and 1.0 comes after a stage that has none:
| Stage | When | Status on Oct 21, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Q3 2026 | Delivered on Sep 30, 2026 (Roadmap Patch) |
| Stage 2 | Q4 2026 | Under way; part of it is in the Balance Update Beta |
| Stage 3 | "All the time left in Early Access" | Not started; details promised near the end of Stage 2 |
| Stage 4 | 1.0, full release | No date |
So 1.0 cannot come before the Stage 3 work is done: the underground layer, the Thieves' Guild, new Tier 8 neutral creatures, map editor improvements, an Ironman mode for the campaign, match statistics, spells up to level 5, a hero specialization rework, town models that change with upgrades and new PvP win conditions (roadmap). One sign in Unfrozen's favor: Stage 1 shipped inside its quarter, and Unfrozen then wrote "we're serious about keeping every promise we make", promising to say so if something gets in the way (Unfrozen, Sep 30, 2026).
What 1.0 adds
Stage 4 lists what the full release brings (roadmap):
- Campaign Acts 2 and 3: "Fully fleshed out campaign with a completed story" (Campaign). Early Access has Act 1; Schism's origin is among the stories saved for later acts (Devlog #13).
- PvE Roguelike Mode: "We know it's intriguing and we cannot wait to share more with you!.. Yet a bit later."
- Map sharing support, for maps made in the Map Editor.
- Alternatives to pick and ban in PvP.
- More achievements and more Steam perks, the latter for Steam only.
Unfrozen also intends full modding support after the full release, from new visuals to new content (Devlog #15, Apr 24, 2026).
A history of dates
Olden Era has a record of moving dates before Early Access, as Unfrozen reshaped it after playtests, until its release date trailer of Apr 1, 2026 put a day on screen, "Coming to Early Access April 30, 2026", which it kept:
| When said | Target |
|---|---|
| Aug 22, 2024 | Early Access in the first half of 2025 |
| Dec 6, 2024 | Q2 2025 |
| Apr 10, 2025 | "this Summer" |
| Jun 13, 2025 | "later in 2025" |
| Oct 9, 2025 | 2026 |
| Apr 1, 2026 | Apr 30, 2026, met |
Consoles
No console version of Olden Era has been announced as of Oct 21, 2026. Unfrozen's Early Access launch trailer ends on "Now available in Early Access" above two store logos only, Steam and Xbox on PC. It is a Windows game on Steam, on the Microsoft Store as a Game Preview and in PC Game Pass; none of Unfrozen's announcements mention PlayStation, Xbox consoles or Switch, and the roadmap's only platform remark is that Steam perks are "Steam only". For what runs it now, see PC Requirements and Price and Editions.
